They gave you what they had to. I'm against .gov meddling, but the older I get the more it becomes apparent that people are fuckers. If they could have sent some jackboots to burn you out, they would have.
Well, crap! Being evicted and have to be out in 60 days.

Yes. Vote democrats. Enough with the Jackbootery. Renters of the proletariat unite.
-
The moral is to never rent. But, alas... Stop paying your property tax and find out who the real landlord is. And THAT landlord WILL set the house on fire and shoot you as you try to escape.
Your best bet is to avoid contact. At all cost.

They have some renter protection laws in California that really screw landlords. However, landlords are why they have the laws - raising rent as property values go up . I think it's complicated. Still, I'd never own a rental property here.

4. How Much Can Landlords in California Raise Rent?
California landlord-tenant law prohibits landlords from arbitrarily raising rent year to year. California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill in 2019 mandating statewide rent control, and from now until Jan. 1, 2030, California law limits increases of rent to 5% each year plus inflation.
The statewide rent control does not supersede the rent control laws already imposed in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and other California cities. It also doesn’t apply to housing built within the last 15 years.

You own nothing in this, the most well organized communism there is.
-
Look at this as an opportunity to escape California.

THIS is where a troubled stranger shows up and, against his better judgement, fights and defeats the evil landlord and his henchmen

Who was that masked man? I forgot to thank him.

This morning I've been working on my budget. Cutting some costs.

Have a song.

I think I might have found a place. It's a guest house and it's not super far from me. It's remodeled and really great looking.
I'd have my own parking for it. And privacy.
-
Sell the camper? Depends on storage fees I suppose
-
yes, if I get a any place other than an RV space I'll need to sell it.
-
That's too bad after putting so much work into it.
-
That's true but in the end it's still just a travel trailer. I didn't put a lot of money into it or anything.
-
If the local codes are anything like they are here, the only place you can put that is in an RV park, so your options are severely limited.
-
There are tons of places that allow it but they're just aren't any open spaces.
-
If you had something that could pull it to a dump station every few days you could live in a Walmart parking lot. Bit noisy tho
-
Lots of people "camping out" on the streets in CA rent free.
-
I would never ever ever do that. I mean I shouldn't say never, if I were desperate enough that's what I would have to do.
The guest house that I looked at online yesterday looks nice. I'll get something.
I've seen a few manufactured homes that are huge and inexpensive on lots already. But you never know if those places will be sold out from under you.
A manufactured home would be the best at this point other than my trailer being set somewhere. Those things are very large inside and they have high ceilings. Most of them do that I've looked at. That would be great for recording and mixing plus I could do whatever I want with the walls and all of that. With a rental I can't probably hang my bass traps up and all that stuff, plus a lot of them will probably have noisy air conditioners if they have air conditioning at all.
A lot of place down by the beaches don't even have air conditioning.
