Tone King Gremlin, in the house!
This thing is fucking unreal. I mean I love this amp. Really, really really love it!
Sweet!
Thanks! I think it's such a cool looking amp and it sounds really good!
Would you record with it?
Yes - and that's why I got it. It's perfect.
I'll post some stuff... maybe later, or tomorrow.
It has a really great overdrive sound on the lead channel. Total rocker. On the clean channel it chimes. Basically the clean is a Fender Blackface kind of clean and the Lead channel is like a killer Tweed. It's just super great.
Doggone it
How loud is it? Could it get over a reasonable drummer?
What exactly does the lead channel do? Do you think you could use an a/b switch to conveniently get between them?

I can't see why that wouldn't work. I've got a Chinese A/B/Y that was about thirty dingo dollars
It gives me a bit of a Fender Vaporizer vibe

it's pretty loud in a room. Not sure if you're going to get over a loud drummer. Only tried it with the p90 guitar so far ( recorded a new song idea) and it starts to break up and get over-driven on the lead ( right) channel) and its loud. To get over a drummer you're going to be distorted. Might be different if you swapped the AX7 tubes with AU7s or similar
It's pretty damn loud in a small room. But not a lot of clean headroom. If you're playing with a drummer I'd say it's not going to be enough. But it's loud. Just not going to gave the clean headroom.
It's an unbelievably a great sounding amp. It's a perfect recording amp. Live, you would need to mic it probably - or use it's line out to feed the PA.
The left channel is a cleaner channel that is supposed to give a Fender Blackface clean. My P90 guitar chimes a breaks up after 3 on the volume but it's EXACTLY the "clean" that I was looking for. I'm going to play Strat and Tele through it tomorrow. They should sound more clean.
I think you would need a two cord foot switcher to get between the channels .
Here's a picture of the manual page that explains the channels.
yeah, that would work. I don't need to be switching channels though. I'm just going to be dialing in a tone for each tack I'm recording, and play softer or harder for dynamics.
I bet your EQ will be up the shit when you change between channels though.
how do you mean?
It probably doesn't apply to this amp because it doesn't exactly have a shared EQ
