I really love that guitar. I like that it's not super expensive (like the Strat is) so I'll just bring it out and to my bed even and not worry about it too much. I recorded some stuff into the Zoom late at night from bed .

I feel like the Yamaha is a guitar that I can always have out - like I do with the acoustic

The Zoom has some amp models and stuff. I really don't like messing with the menus on that thing though - but I'll use it to record at work and stuff.

I have not recorded with the bass yet, but I set it up and played around with it. It's very easy to play. Sounds incredible. It's passive and active. Pretty diverse range of sounds. I got the P Bass. They call it a Precision but really it's a PJ - has the Jazz style bridge pickup.

I'm very happy with these two guitars

Last night I laid down about 12 takes ( at least ) of acoustic guitar and vocals for two songs. Using the SM81 mic and it sounds fantastic.

So one one song, I put down about 6 takes each for two guitar parts, and maybe 8 vocal takes. I put the recorder in COMP mode so I can pick which sections to use for the take. Honestly, all of the takes sounded pretty good to me. It was productive and fun.

These are the songs Travis drummed on and I finally got of my ass and did the hard work of learning my original demo parts and recording them for real. I had wanted to just use the demo tracks because I liked the feel - but they had sound issues and some had timing mistakes. I'm lazy and I HATE trying to figure out guitar parts that I pulled out of my ass when writing the songs. Learning the little nuances that I grew to like in the demo tracks - some just happy mistakes - but having to learn all of that is work.

The only other thing that I want to get is a good laptop to put cakewalk on. Sometimes I go to bed and want to listen to a mix or lay a part down but I don't want to go out to my desk and make a big production out of it. Something cool about just flipping a laptop open and having a guitar right by the bed.

Oh- I forget to send the strings. And I had them laid out so I wouldn't forget to send them. I'll get them out tomorrow.

I'm looking at laptops. I want an XPS 13 by Dell. I found one on OfferUp in San Diego for $780. That's like a $1,600 computer. I inquired to see if he still had it. Hopefully he does and I'm going to buy that one I think.

It's got 32 GB of RAM and it's a very small nice computer.

For an interface I might get the PreSonus 24C, which brand new they're like $148. That's a really decent interface for a good price. Although I might lean towards getting a used Apollo twin. Like for the $700 price range.

The advantage of the UAD Apollo is that it's got the built-in universal audio plugins and the processor for them. And also The built-in preamp emulations. I've always wanted to get one of these.

So that would be pretty much what I would want to have for a mobile setup.

I could use this system by bringing it to work and recording in the nice big room and also recording stuff right for my bed and mixing stuff with headphones from the bed.

I know I sound like a lazy fuck but by the time I go to bed I don't want to be up at my computer desk and running a whole big thing. Plugging in a laptop and a headphones and just listening and mixing and then putting it away when I want to shut my eyes would be a really good thing. And I used to have a little laptop that the screen went bad on it and it wasn't worth fixing.

At that point I need to be done with buying stuff for awhile.

I think this kid is going to drive up from San Diego to bring me the laptop to buy. The Offerup ad says he'd ship but he said he'd rather do it in person. I told him I didn't want to drive down there for it and he offered to come up. So I told him I'd give him 50 more dollars for gas. I think he's a young guy. Probably teenager by the way it seems.

If this goes through, I'll be getting maybe close to a 2k computer for just over 800.00

What color are you thinking? I love sunburst but I don't know how difficult that is.

I also love like a nitro finish where you can see the wood grain through it. Like a stain with a nitro finish? I don't know.

Or a solid color that you don't have yet. Like yellow or something.
