  • How much is even just the wood for that thing? And then the time you put into it?

I've told a story before I think. A friend of my dad's went to prison and had this giant lifted big 4x4 truck in the early nineties or late '80s. He gave it to my dad for collateral for money that he owed him or something. Anyway my dad ended up needing to sell the truck

He put it for something like $10,000 in the AutoTrader with no bites. So he did the opposite of what I thought he would do. He said fuck it, put it for $15,000. And then it sold right away.

  • One-off creations go for big bucks because they’re the only one and rich boys like to brag.

The thing about that is the possibility of repeat customers and new ones looking for that unique piece to put in their den.

Pretty soon, before you know it you’re a clock whore chasing the dollar all over again.

    Proceed with caution.

  • Another anecdote time.

A year ago some cunt yankee cockbite asked for a quote.

    We provided the quotation.

He called back and asked if I could do better. I requoted 25% over my first quote.

Last week he contracted us to remove what's there. He didn't ask how much.

When I asked him why he called us back. He replied he asked a few friends at the country club who did their gates and two guys said us and that we're reliable.

Now I have to treat him right on the pricing.

Caedite eos novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius.

  • You never know if the guy giving you the price is a "I got too much work right now ANYway, I'll give this yankee a yuge quote", or is THAT really what it should cost?

The guy who did my slab (He was the 3rd quote)---first guy wanted $24k, SECOND guy wanted $12k, but no license, probably no insurance and little to no Ingles. THIRD guy struck me as upstanding sort, said $21.5k. I finally concluded that was probably the best I'd get. He had 6 dudes, excavator, skid steer, dump truck full of gravel, all day Monday, all day Tuesday, pour concrete Thursday, and were there half the day Friday, and 3 trucks of concrete. I tried to do the math, I think mebbe 15 yards of concrete that came from 20 miles away.

I figured my company would have charged more for a similar project

  • It's like a douchebag coming to work one day and flashing a Rolex watch. It's bigtiming. It's a statement, to the other people there: "I'm a BIG WHEEL and YOU PEOPLE are turkeys". The other douchebags pretend not to notice, but boy oh boy are they STEAMED. Every day going forward, they're reminded of it.

Then one of the other people gets a Rolex too - and they make damn sure to get a model that is just slightly higher up the prestige chart than the one the guy has. They'll never get a Rolex that is lower, because that's like admitting the first guy is better than you. That's self ownage.

Then the first guy is fucked - he's now fully owned. He must never wear that Rolex to work ever again, or buy an even better one.

Anyways, the moral of the story is those two are fools, and the guy who wins is the guy selling the watches.

The world is full of fools with money.

Suckers have no business with money anyways.

  • Awesome. Now copy it to your newly created subdomain at thezone.biz. You don't want to have it on chatgpt.site.

    Even Better....

I was having an impromptu consult with Muse because Zuckerberg wants me to use his product, and Muse echoed your concern. In fact, he laughed and said, And I'm not the only one, and somehow brought up this very post. Ha ha.
