What gets lost is the message.

The message was the uplifting of people out of the animal state and stone age savagery. It spread throughout a world where people slaughtered each other at the drop of a hat. Even in times of peace, people practiced slavery, human sacrifice and every manner of barbarism. Christianity was a new way.

It was a message of enlightenment, using reason and understanding to solve problems and live peacefully. Also valuing altruism towards other men, just as is, because it's Good on it's own.

That's all it was ever meant to be.

But, then as now, you have every manner of narcissistic sociopath embedding themselves into it, looking for gain or control over others.

I can't wait to begin marketing my line of Pope on a rope soap and anal rosary beads.
