Nope, not worth a bullet.
Nope, not worth going to jail over.
Nope, your mom might read that.
And so on…

Yep that's an interesting phenomenon - I've experienced that one as well - you are in a state of semi sleep, and the answer to a very tough problem you've been thinking about for days comes to you instantly - and you have to force yourself to wake up and write it down.
I use that state purposely. For creativity. My uncle, who was brilliant and invented many things, would tell me that he solved problems in his sleep. That's what he meant. Semi-conscious thinking through problems.
In that state your mind is most elastic. Not constrained by what you "know". You can easily think outside of the box.
In my opinion is also the time where you are most in touch with whatever universal intelligence is out there. Sort of like you're receiving a stream of consciousness from another source.
That may not actually be true, but that's what it is in a practical sense.
That's why songwriters and writers keep recorders or pads of paper by the side of their bed.
Inner dialogue to me is simply means that you are analyzing and working through problems in your head. It doesn't mean an actual dialogue. We have a language, so sometimes thoughts get translated into our language.....but thoughts don't have to be thought through in a language.
Some people work visually in their mind. Just left brain/right brain thing. Same thing basically.
I solve problems in my sleep
I do too. It's that half awake half sleep state. It's so delicious! But I have had many eureka moments in that state. Almost like what the hell was I thinking? This was actually quite easy. Why was I overthinking it? whatever it was?...
Keep paper and pen handy.
Yes! It's fleeting!
It is. Mental ejaculated, wasted on the pillow.
are you visualizing what you've read?
I do.
I'm doing these words in me mind long before I can type them.
My brain works faster than my mouth. Sometimes my brain gets so far ahead of my mouth that I forget where I was at.
