Like I've said previously, I'd take Mexico by force. Make it an unrepresented US Territory. Set up stages for it becoming many new American States. Make every illegal mexican in the US register, go back, and help rebuild it. If they don't, they get deported to somewhere else.

I could live with that solution.

I don’t understand this fear of Cartel retaliation. Sure they seem like a powerful force when they are terrorizing 3rd world shitholes. They might even get a few attacks on our side of the border done. However, they aren’t an organized army. They don’t have the logistical network for sustained fighting. They aren’t even really a guerilla force. Just thugs with guns.

Well if they fuck around in the USA, it's act of war. They're already legally terrorists - the US will just start doing drone strikes into Mexico proper.
