If I had a per diem I would still be staying in Holiday inn Express because I don't like cruddy hotel experiences. I'd rather have a decent, clean and predictably nice place then save a few bucks
I haven't visited nearly as many states as I thought I would have at this point in my life. And I don't really see any point in time where I will actually begin traveling either, which is disappointing, but I guess it's all right too. Last time I left the state of Michigan was in 2010 when we went to my wife's cousin's wedding in Wisconsin. And the time before that was when I went to visit my grandfather in Florida when he was dying. And that was in 2002.
I think you need to come out to California. There's way too much to see here, but at least come to some part of California and stay a couple of days.
Peasants.

I'll have you know I'm a platinum (maybe diamond) Wyndham member. I get all the nicest rooms in the Super 8's!
Wyndham? That’s like Holiday In with good parking and nice pillows.
Time to upgrade.
I get $178 a day for grub/motel (technically $68/$110) Today I spent $20 on breakfast in Wilkesboro NC, then $13 on a Buc-ees sammich and water for dinner in Brunswick GA., $65 for motel in same, (is a tolerable Red Roof, Most motels are $75-$85 + tax.) Anyhow I cleared $79
My back prefers Marriott mattresses.
My back doesn’t care about $79.
Gotta take care of it.
My BACK is fine. Shoulder gonna need surgery tho, prolly heart surgery before the end of the year also, getting money's worth out of the insurance
I read somewhere that sleeping on a cheap mattress can damage your heart.
Just saying.
