  • The biggest reasons people move to any state are usually:

    Jobs

    Be near family

    better climate

    change of pace

    be near amenities

Politics is not anywhere near the top reasons.

I love California. Completely great for me. I love Arizona too.

I like Texas for it's politics - but that would never overcome the climate and the scenery for me.

There's a reason that 40 million people live in California. Most people don't like freezing their asses off or being pissed on by the sky all the time.

  • There's a reason lots of Californians are moving to Idaho. It ain't the weather. A lot of people are moving from northern states to Texas also. Again, not the weather. Florida too. Weather may have something to do with that.

  • Possum Kingdom Lake, Texas. Did some scuba diving there decades ago.

Quick answer; Texas is mostly flat! Texas is considered one of the flatter states in the US in elevation and feeling.

Feeling means that people think the appearance and terrain of the state are flat, but topographical maps and geological studies show it’s one of the flattest states. So in both perception and scientific reality, Texas is flat!

Texas terrain is roughly 44% flat. Only 6% is super flat, 12% is very flat, and a whopping 26% is generally flat.

    The Top 10 Flattest States

If you’re on the hunt for the flattest state in America, below are the top ten flattest states, and Texas made a list!

    1. Florida
    2. Illinois
    3. North Dakota
    4. Louisiana
    5. Minnesota
    6. Delaware
    7. Kansas
    8. Texas
    9. Nevada
    10. Indiana

    The Top 10 Hilliest States

On the flip side, below are the top ten hilliest states in the US. Many of these states are home to well-known mountain ranges, like the Rockies, but you may be surprised to see some states are not on this list, such as Colorado.

    1. New Hampshire
    2. Vermont
    3. West Virginia
    4. Wyoming
    5. Arizona
    6. Connecticut
    7. Idaho
    8. Maine
    9. Massachusetts
    10. Montana
  • There's a reason lots of Californians are moving to Idaho. It ain't the weather. A lot of people are moving from northern states to Texas also. Again, not the weather. Florida too. Weather may have something to do with that.

Most people are moving to Texas, and it's because of jobs, affordable housing and low taxes.

Idaho might be the fastest growing - by percent of their population. The population of Idaho is not even two million people For the whole state. If 15 people move there it puts a dent in the percentage compared to Texas, or a lot of other states below Idaho.

Not many people will ever live in Idaho.

  • If we're going to deal in percentages then consider while Texas is mostly flat it does have hills, and probably a lot more than mostly hilly much smaller states. Nothing wrong with flat though. Having spent the last 15 years frequently driving through mountains I much prefer long, straight, flat highways. Mountains a nice to look at. Not fun to drive through.

  • I made a video flying around the DFW area in MSFS 2020 to show my daughter when they first started talking of moving to the Dallas area.Looks very much like the sat views in google maps but was more fun to make. It's flat. Having lived there decades I am well aware.

  • Most people are moving to Texas, and it's because of jobs, affordable housing and low taxes.

All of those three things are the direct result of the politics of the TX Governor and Legislature.

It’s that Freedom thing. Less onerous regulations on business. Less tax on businesses and individuals. Both those thins create cheaper housing.

The direct opposite Kali which is why businesses and families are leaving Kali for saner states.

$220k for every decendent is a slave? Yeah, that’s not politics that will affect the exodus. Higher taxes here we come.

  • If half the people eligible for that in this country moved to California to collect it would cost over 3 Trillion dollars. Can California afford that?

Looks like it will be limited to people who lived in CA prior to 1977. Maybe. A few billion oughta cover that.
