By the eighties slot cars had fallen out of fashion here. My uncle had a decent set and knew how to set a car up. I was in Hobby Lobby a few months back and saw they were selling the larger scales kits and cars. I could see a nostalgia craze coming back.

I was like 9 or 10 when the HO cars started to be the thing, remember feeling kind of disloyal to leave the 1/32 scale tracks in the closet

The big slot car craze hit in my area in the early 60's. I remember going to the slot car shop across the street from my elementary school and driving my little cheap slot car there for 25 cents. I think you got 15 minutes of time on the track for a quarter.

I'm intrigued by the technical aspect of racing in leagues and such...

Walking around the block two more times before I go home. Or I'm going to get groceries then go home! 3-day weekend!

I'd swear you were in Brisbane if the cars were facing the other way

Well, I think I'm done for the day!

Took a walk again today. This is on the final leg home. I actually walked to my work. It's 1.3 miles away, so I probably got a good 3 miles in today at least. And I'm not done!

This is the cake that Veronica got me. And they had food and everything for me at work on my birthday. It was nice.
And the funny thing is I was joking that they would put trick candles on there, and they did! They didn't mean to but they thought they were normal candles so the damn things kept relighting.
And no, I didn't blow on the cake. I used one of those paper plates to blow them out. But like I said then they would be light.

Oh, El Sluggo Loco , Vivian was there! And her sister. I told he what you said and it made her day! She said, did you tell him I'm single!

Yeah, that really does look a lot like Long Beach.
I've said it before. that I've noticed the same thing when I've seen pictures of Australia.

Out walking again. This place is right on the corner. Maybe a hundred yards from my house. And it's so good. I just got some tamales from there. They have fresh breads that they bake inside there and all kinds of stuff. It's actually really amazing. Super clean too.

Just curious. Since you are keeping track of your "steps", are you using something like a fit bit? If so what brand. I'm thinking about getting one to track what I am doing during exercise.

Your phone will do it on its own.

Take a look at the Goals - Fitness Tracker app for your phone. It's free, easy to use and it gives essentially the exact same steps/distance That my Garmin GPS watch does. I think it's pretty accurate.

Maverick , I'm just using the Google app on my phone. The downside to a phone is that it's harder to keep on you all the time, or for me when I want to go out for a walk and might not have pockets.
It's really motivating to be in this little group I'm in. It's also great just seeing how active (or not) I am.
I can already tell a difference in energy and metabolism after not even a month of doing this.
