So YEARS ago I got several copies of IL-2 1946 (came out in 2007). Cool thing was you owned <fingerquotes>the system</fingerquotes> so you could mess around with it offiline, but you could also host your own server and it supported many players. I forget how many, but let's say something like 8. It had a shitload of planes.
Now, was it AH ? No, not as realistic flight model wise, however it was good enough to be serviceable. It was a lot better than old Airwarrior, and the graphics were better than AH (IMHO but that can be argued). So I kind of saw it as a fallback product - if AH were to go under, and you + all your little friends still wanted to have an AH experience, it was a free "own it forever" alternative. No cost, other than buying it once, and it was going for under $10 for years. All these years later, I still feel like it could be a good post apocalypse AH replacement for hard times.
SO my question, is that a new version of it ? What's the deal with it ?
