I dunno about America, but over here people, on the right and the left, just don't seem to care, and this is not a new problem. It has been going on for decades.
I could see when I left school 25 years ago that the creation of 150-250 new jobs a year with over 1000 kids leaving school that same year was not sustainable.
Now huge parts of my hometown, for example, are a shell of what they once were, boarded up houses and stores, people on welfare with no jobs to sustain them.
At least in the City if god forbid I lose my job, I can have another by next Monday.

The "Service Economy" was a ruse invented by socialists to loot an amount of the country's wealth that will last them, and ONLY THEM, til they die.
Every town on the entire planet exists for one reason: to service something real. 9 times out of 10, it's manufacturing. Or making something. *Occasionally* it is a transportation hub to service another location's manufacturing.
No town, village, city, county, state, country, kingdom, or empire on the entire face of the planet, in all of recorded human history has EVER survived getting rid of making their own things.
