Today is Vietnam War Veterans Day. Thank you all for your brave service. You were drafted and sent to a war you probably didn't understand or care about. You were sent to help people who probably could not have cared less, and you saw some of them coming the other way. IF you were lucky enough to return to America alive (and with the same number of limbs you deployed with), you were spit on and called "baby killer" by political activists (hippies) who were safely here at home, fucking for peace and getting high, contributing nothing of value to our country. Some of us appreciate what you went through and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. May God bless you all and give you peace of mind.

Should have stayed at her proper station. The Home Galley, playing with the pots and pans.
She probably doesn't know how to cook.

I hope he didn't drown or burn to death.
Or fall into a wood chipper...

Yes! The timing on that is pretty much perfect. I searched for factory noise online and that sounds pretty much like every factory I've ever worked in. I did have some binaural recordings I made of the hammer forge I worked at for a while and that would have been perfect. but I can't seem to find them...
Bearcat Remember those cool IDs that WWCK used to have? one was a jet going by that they captured at the airshow. Another was like a synth divebomb?
Yes! The synth dive bomb followed by the slow, low-voiced "One oh Five, eff emm." Sounded like Jeff Holbrook. I'll do some synth tracks and bring them with me.

I need a bunch more. Got any ideas?
Maybe we can work on some when I come up.

Just try that neck and see if it's playable. If it is, great. If not, you gotta do what ya gotta do.

That guitar is going to sound fabulous when you're done with it.

I tried a Les Paul with p90s at guitar center (just before the pandemic) to see what the big deal was. They sounded fantastic. Not the prettiest pickups, but they do sound great. Tom Scholz has one in the neck position of his LP. I usually like a single coil there, but the p90 was better.

John was a great rhythm guitar player. Also, a very creative guitar player. Always had the coolest chord progressions and melodies.
I love his bass playing on Helter Skelter.

Yes you do!

That's nice, but a little big and pricey. I was definitely going for cheap with the M-audio. I wanted something with a small footprint to sit on the mixing desk with my keyboard and mouse and trigger my real synths as well. That thing is almost as big as my Juno DS-88.

And here's another CS-80 emulation I might be checking out pretty soon.

discoDSP OB-XdOB-Xd is based on the Oberheim OB-X. It attempts to recreate its sound and behavior, but as the original was very limited in some important ways a numwww.discodsp.com
Don't click on the buy now, click on the windows logo above download.

I also found a free Oberheim synth that sounds okay. I'll see if I can find the link later.

Yes, I bought the Arturia CS-80 I always wanted, and the Arturia Prophet 5.

I never noticed the flexing until you mentioned it and I tried it. It's just a a keybed with a few buttons and wheels. At this price, do you think it should have a steel frame? I've had no problems with it whatsoever, and the price is pretty decent. I can lay it across the arms of my La-z-boy and play comfortably when I'm not at the studio table in the bedroom. Don't think of it as flimsy, think of it as flexible.

I totally support mixing in the box. I don't miss using any of my rack effects. As much as love my H3000 Harmonizer, the plugin sounds just as good.
-
I will keep some of my outboard rack gear, but I'm totally happy with the DAW and the plugins. An eight channel control surface would be nice, though.

I'll have one after I finish paying for the toys I bought four years ago.

That looks like an SSL UF8 DAW controller behind the keyboard. Very nice.
