My brother Kenny called me last week for advice on what guitar to get, and he also wanted a recording setup.
I recommended a mid-range Strat, Presonus interface, and Cakewalk by bandlab (which is free)
This morning he called on the way to Sam Ash in Phoenix. Said he wanted a Les Paul. Told him those are cool but - heavy, not as versatile, not as comfortable, etc. Told him I'd get a Strat - and that the guys at Sam Ash would give good advice. I find musicians in these places are usually super nice and really don't push you into anything.
So they told him pretty much the same things. He said the guy was super cool and patient. Kenny called again at the store. Had an 800.00 MIM strat he liked. Asked about amps.
Well he ended up getting a Strat, Player Pro. American. He ordered it. He wanted something nice - so he got a nice one!
He also got a Boss 100 amp.
