• Time for a new general use PC. A little bit of gaming, but mostly just spreadsheets and visual studio code. Parts get here today.

    Ryzen 7 7800X3D cpu

    CoolerMaster ML360L liquid cooler

    ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F mobo

    64gb Corsair Vengeance 6000mhz CL40 ram

    XFX 6950XT gpu

Gigabyte 34" curved monitor. Freesync 1440P blah blah blah.

  • I was going to upgrade my 2nd PC to the new 14900k, but with it being so dismal and not any faster than the 13900k I have in PC #1, I went with the 7800X3D too. The AM5 will still be used for the next couple/few AMD upgrades to this CPU, while the 1700 Z790 is done now as of the 14th gen Intel. I went with 6400mhz RAM as it wasn't any more $ due to a sale, and an MSI X670 Tomahawk MB, but otherwise pretty similar. Identical AIO cooler as yours, 4090 GPU as I had another one other than the one in my main PC, and I put in a 1200 Seasonic PSU with the new ATX3.0 12 plug for the GPU. LianLi full tower case, big shortage up here on Corsair cases, and I almost re used an older 750 Corsair I had in a box.

I'm really happy with it, AMD chip draws SO much less power, runs cooler too. I have a couple 27" LG 4k 1ms Gsync 144hz monitors and an Alienware 34" OLED 1440p that I'm using between both PCs.

  • My monitor setup on this build will be weird because I code. A pair of 1080p monitors in portrait on the left, then the landscape wideview monitor. Really like portrait mode lately for my email/code/documents display.

I'm still in love with my Corsair Carbide Air 540, but it's too big. I need something I can undermount on my rolling desk more efficiently along with the UPS. I like to unplug and roll my desk into different rooms depending on what's going on in the house.
