The legendary sm7b.
I think I now have the quality sound I was looking for with a mic upgrade. I was using the built in mic on a Razer headset and got complaints on the voice quality, or rather the lack of quality.
I want to start live streaming soon and one of the things I learned is that in order to have a successful stream you need a quality microphone because no one wants to listen to a shitty voice recording. You don't necessarily need a web cam but you damn well better have a decent mic.
-
Damn straight. Sound quality is very important when presenting a professional product. My next problem will be a better camera. Cell phones just don't have a large enough lens to pull in enough light when filming in a low-light environ.
-
My wife has a Chinese knock off of one of them, I think she paid about $60 for it
-
If I'm able to get back into making fishing lures I'll definitely have to look into a camera upgrade.
-
The problem with the sm7b is its notoriously weak signal. Guys like it because you can use it in horribly untreated rooms and have it sound great. The tradeoff is that you pretty much HAVE to add a second stage of gain to make it useable. I thought everyone was just stupid and didn't know how to use it put, alas... they were right. I have to crank the gain so much that the noise floor is unacceptable, and it's STILL too quiet. So... I'm following the crowd and have this on the way...
Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-1 Mic Activator | ReverbThe Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-1 is a phantom-powered boost for your passive ribbon and dynamic microphones that need a little extra level before the mic…reverb.comThis puts the cost over $500! That's a lot for a dynamic mic... But they DO sound fantastic.
-
I have to max the volume on this one in Windows and on the mic itself in order to hear my voice above the game sounds.
-
There is a boost option in the Microsoft sound mixer.
-
I have no idea where that is.
-
I can find two volume sliders for the mic in Windows and they are both maxed.
-
Is this the mixer you're talking about?
-
No boost option but the volume is maxed.
-
I found this. https://pubs.shure.com/guide/MV7/en-US Now I get to test it.
I suspect my mic was a return because there was zero documentation in the box it came in.

What kinda puter you need for dcs to look like that?

Mine is on the lower end of gaming systems and it works alright. RTX2060

I got my current machine with stimulus money. Ryzen 7 cpu (I think it's a 7800 8 core, could be a 5800 8 core though), 3070 8 gig, 4 tb NvME and 32g ram.
*Edit* Mine is currently in the back seat of my truck covered with a blanket because I don't have anywhere to set it up right now. That should change in the next 2-3 months.
