that's the same thing that happens when writing a song. You get stuck on the the nuances of the original demo and it's hard to get past it when it progresses to a final version. I almost always prefer the crappy demo.

First heard the fast version in 5th grade, because Tom Limbach played that "Hey Jude" (really wasn't an album, just a collection of cuts, released in USA only) album every morning on that shitty 1970's record player before home room. Bought White Album about 5 years later, was first time I'd ever heard most of those songs. Slow version has a nice bluesy feel to it
I like them both. The only reason the single version exists is because no one thought the original was single material.
What I like about the slow version is the really great guitar sounds. Well I like the whole thing. But that's one of the things I really love. When that electric guitar comes in and does those riffs. Everything sounds really good in that recording.
And the ending distorted guitar parts are really cool too. I don't know what effect that is but it's so cool.
