Mine is directly in front of my video card fan, so...

But you have to have the heat sink on it though. Right?
-
I've never seen one with a heat sink. I had no idea the fucking thing WAS the C: drive until I was shown a picture of it. My first thought was a wireless networking card
-
The ones I have have a heat sink that they're mounted on.

Mine does not have a heat sink. Should I get one?
ACIDALIE M.2 2280 SSD Heat Sink, Dual - Aluminum Heat Sink for PCIE M.2 NVME SSD or SATA M.2 SSD with Silicone Thermal Buffer. https://a.co/d/37xlFh3

They're ALSO a pain the the fucking ass to replace, as you have to pull the machine out of the rack and pop the cover, as opposed to pulling the drive out the front
I have a Corsair Air 540. If you are swapping an SATA they're inside the main chamber in the case, on the floor near the video cards. 2 clip pull. The M.2 isn't exactly much more difficult though, it's 1 screw, pretty close to the two internal SATA receivers.

Probably the best case of all time. It's just not small. The Mini ATX version is also extremely nice.

All the commercial raid NVR's (we're talking 12-24 hard drives) I've dealt with, you shut the thing down, pull the 50-75 lb beast out of the rack, pull 8-10 screws out of the top cover, THEN remove another cover plate to expose the little fucker.
OR.... Just have ONE of those 24 slots on the front be configured for a C: drive.
(There IS one I've worked on that has 24 3.5" slots in the front for storage, 2 ssd slots in back for Winblows , much better design)

I'm not sure about that. Mine came with a heat sink. And also the motherboard has some sort of a heat sink that it mounts on top of. You know that little almost spacer looking thing that it sits on. That's a heat sink.
You can read about your drive and see if it should have one or not.

That little spacer is the only heat sink mine has.

I think it's called the thermal pad or something like that. I should be fine if that's what it came with. If it didn't come with a heat sink it should be fine.

I got a cheap one on the way.

I went ahead and put one of these on it. Better safe than sorry...
