also expensive.
Building a peddle board amp rig

In a lot of those type units, the solid state part does most of the work, the signal merely passing through the tubes for "color". They probably figure the tubes will last the life of the pedal?
-
I think the big deference is in the room with the speaker when it comes to vacuum tubes, where I will be.
-
the tubrd affect the sound in a few ways. Even order harmonis and harmonic distortion, and also some compression. More musical.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Dunning Kruger.
Nah, you don't have to write the DSP libraries from scratch. All the heavy lifting is done. It's just legos, but with solder.
-
And that's why you would fail.
-
You people argue about everything
-
And that's why you would fail.
your cynical to the point it's just sad. It's two pieces of actual circuitry and two connectors. I could teach you to do this in a day. If you want to write a DSP Library you actually have to take a class for that but with generative AI that is no longer hard either just tedious.
-
I might do it just to say fuck you but I have to build an autocannon first.
-
The part you're missing is the mojo of musical instruments and equipment. The reason you would not be successful is the same reason that a cabinet maker could not build a violin, unless it was built from a kit... you could build a pedal from a kit and it would be pretty good, but that's not what we're talking about.
-
hippie bullshit it's just a circuit with fixed parameters going into a few functions that are already made. It's retails in America for 50 bucks which means it's all of $10 in electronics and recycled code.

OK

even analog pedals designed and built from scratch are the tutorial project for how to use the PCB design software. It doesn't get more basic. For me doing it digital is easier than analog.

That's an overdrive pedal, it would barely pass as a preamp stage, the stuff I'm looking at have a valve preamp stage running into a solid-state power stage with built in impulse responses (cab sims) for going straight to the desk or a powered monitor and a speaker out with enough juice to run a traditional speaker cabinet. Not a project I would consider doing myself.

That's a pretty good answer. I looked into it for a bit today and what I'd do has already been done. Teensy boards, separate codec, convenience features like a solder pad for gain knob, pretty cheap to buy for a hobbyist, same specs as the digital one you initially posted but less featured than the fancier Ampero models.
