Happy New Year!
I went to bed early.I dreamt that I took acid!
Some fat kid walked up to me and was chewing on a tiny piece of paper like a litmus tab and he held his hand up to me with his thumb out with a tiny portion of a long ribbon of paper and told me to chew off about half an inch and chew it up.
LOL

We made it all the way to 10:30. Wow. We are pretty exciting I guess.
-
My brother in Phoenix texted me at 11pm, because it was midnight there. I was in bed already.

Played a show in Royal Oak last night and drove 2.5 hours home after. We "opened" for a high profile DJ. The experience was deflating but an excellent payday.
-
Why was the experience deflating?
That sure is a long-ass drive. What were the road conditions like? You must have been deadass tired.

I drank a bottle of Jim Beam and spent New Year's Day suffering. I got very brave and hassled my mother-in-law all night.

Part of the deal was relinquishing the mix to the house "sound engineer" . We started out with one of my pre-saved mixer scenes from a similar sized venue. Two minutes in I saw the hostess come over to the guy with my laptop shaking her head... Too loud. Suddenly all of the slapback was gone. I played the rest of the show not being able to hear myself at all. When we were done I went and compared where he left it to what he started with. All he did was pull the mains back. Which effectively buried the vocals and kick drum (the only things REALLY coming out FOH). Pretty much everything else comes from the stage. The guy obviously has no idea what he's doing. As soon as we were done here comes the DJ playing all his shit as loud as he wants... Now I've got to load out through incredibly loud music and smoke machines and strobe lights through an over capacity room...

I remember those situations. Were that opening act wouldn't be allowed to touch the mixer or the lights. And you would have to pay their sound man and the light guy. And they would mix you like shit. When the man act came on they would sound really fucking great. Lol

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Yeah, I know that I am late but between Christmas and New Years.... do you have any idea how many friends and family members I have to ignore? Between all of the emails, text messages I have to leave on unread and early morning knocks I have to pretend I don't hear? Its exhausting!
But I wish you all well.
