That was fucking awesome.

I want to see the original article that they pulled that video from. They probably use that video as an example of the dangerously brainwashed trumptards that live in flyover country..

I would like to know more about what can be tracked when the phone is an airplane mode or otherwise out of cell phone service, as they say in the article. Probably Wi-Fi?
It's pretty crazy how close they can narrow you down to location.
The article implies that if you have Google location services off then it won't track you. I'm sure the FBI has other means, they just don't want to reveal them and want to use Google as their screen and backup and bases for what they get on you. The FBI probably already has a lot of the information.

There's always a history whether they're on or off, I remember a story about a guy who put his phone in airplane mode before driving all over the state, later he found the entire route was tracked by the phone. Since you can't pull the battery anymore, (and I'm suspicious that it STILL does stuff while it's powered down) you'd probably need to have a metal box handy

Yeah, I was wondering if a Faraday cage/envelope would prevent all phone tracking. Every time you pulled it out of there though they would surely have a location. They just wouldn't know exactly where you went when connecting the dots.

You could probably store it in a cooler of water and then just take it out when you need it.

I know my Galaxy tablet always has it's GPS running. I don't even have a Data plan set up for it...

You should be able to turn it's GPS off.

I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Farday envelope/bag.

I bought it just for this feature. I'm a mobile dj and need a big screen with GPS. I didn't want to purchase a data plan just for that.
