  • Belarusians are against war, tactical nuclear weapons and rapprochement with Russia, but the Kremlin continues to increase its influence on the country, - Latvian intelligence services

The Latvian Office for the Protection of the Constitution (SAB) has published the unclassified part of the report on the agency’s activities in 2023. Among other things, the report also contains the Latvian intelligence service’s assessment of the current situation in Belarus, noted the publication @reformby

Security services note that Belarusians continue to have high levels of dissatisfaction with the political situation in general, but widespread repression of the opposition, media, NGOs and civil society has significantly reduced any wider opportunities for protest. Besides:

Belarusian society is restrained about further rapprochement with Russia.

Belarusians continue to have a negative attitude towards Russia’s war against Ukraine and are especially critical of the prospects for direct participation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus in it.

SAB also came to the conclusion that Belarusian society negatively perceives the appearance of the Wagner PMC in the country and information about the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons.

However, despite the mood in Belarusian society, SAB notes that the Kremlin continues to strengthen its increasing influence on all areas of government activity in the country. SAB believes that financing projects within the Union State provides an opportunity for the Kremlin to invest in the military infrastructure of Belarus for its own purposes.

The intelligence service also notes an increase in defense spending in the Belarusian budget, but it continues to be significantly lower than spending on internal security.

At the same time, hybrid operations using migrants against neighboring countries do not stop, and state propaganda of the Lukashenko regime throughout 2023 tried to present the Baltic countries in a negative light through information campaigns. The Latvian intelligence service believes that this state of affairs will not change in the near future.

"Zaporizhia Oblast occupation governor Yevgeny Balitsky openly admitted that Russian authorities are forcibly deporting Ukrainian citizens who oppose Russia’s invasion of Ukraine or “insult” Russia and possibly alluded to Russian occupation forces’ summarily executing Ukrainian citizens. Balitsky stated in an interview published on February 20 that Russian occupation authorities “expelled a large number of families...who did not support the ‘special military operation’” or who “insulted” Russia, including the Russian flag, anthem, or [Russian President Vladimir Putin].”[27] Balitsky justified these activities, which would constitute war crimes, claiming that the forcible deportation of Ukrainian families was for their own benefit, as occupation authorities would have had to “deal” with them in an even “harsher” way in the future, or other pro-Russian citizens would have killed them. Balitsky stated that occupation authorities “gave [the deported families] the opportunity to leave” but deported some by force after “giving them a water bottle” at the border. Balitsky also stated that occupation authorities had to make some “extremely harsh decisions that [he] will not be talking about” – a possible allusion to Russian occupation forces conducting summary executions of Ukrainian citizens. ISW has extensively reported on Russia’s forced deportation of Ukrainian citizens, including children, and continues to assess that Russia is attempting to eliminate the Ukrainian language, culture, history, ethnicity, and identity, including through activities that appear to violate the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.[28] Balitsky’s statements about Russian deportations of Ukrainian citizens critical of the Russian occupation indicate that Russian deportation campaigns in part intend to Russify populations in occupied Ukraine through coercion and fear. Balitsky’s willingness to openly discuss – and even defend – Russian occupation authorities’ unlawful treatment of Ukrainian citizens in a publicized interview highlights the extent to which Russian authorities are supporting and promoting such policies."

  • Fuck these animals. backwards thinking, genetic defects. Absolutely worthless shit stains.

I don't see any real difference between Russia now and past. They certainly seem to be going back to the same shit stains of humanity they were all along with a bit of a break from the late 1990's through 2010ish. Like I have said a few times, this feels a lot like the 1930's.

  • Typical Perun where he goes through some history of laser and mw weapon systems and talks about what is known about what is out there now and what is in the pipe line. It's pretty well done and mildly entertaining but if you don't care then it's not worth watching. Basically the US is really ramping up lasers and MW as we don't have much shorad and the war in UA make it's value more obvious. You can't launch expensive missiles at cheap drones as an ongoing defense strategy. UA is making that obvious and directed energy is the answer.
