I'm hearing about airlines not wanting to fly or something. Is this something new? I've had a 5G phone for like six or seven months or more maybe a year. I thought 5G was already around?
What is this 5G roll out thing that's been in the news?

I don't get it I think I've had my phone for over a year.
I know I don't get 5G in very many places though.
-
it's not always true when they say 5g. Sometimes it's just doubled 4g technology.
I think they are worried about the power of the transmitters and they have some focus effect to them.
Let's just say it's probably perfectly fine to use wifi and cell phones on the internet 99% of the time. But sometimes it makes planes fall from the sky. At least we'll be able to get streaming footage of the crash when it happens. Lol.
Honestly I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. I don't normally read anything more than the headlines.

I guess I'm confused because it's all over the news about 5G becoming available tomorrow.
Well I did just look at some articles and most of them are about the airlines concerned about it affecting the altimeters when they land near airports. And then varied in the stories it mentions that the US carriers are going to turn on 90% of their 5G and antenna mast tomorrow I guess.
Which is odd to me because I've seen 5G on my phone but very spotty. Like only one or two times before if I seen 5G on my phone.
I'm kind of excited now because I'm wondering if I could use my phone as my internet connection?
-
By the way I'm using voice to text so some of my words get messed up and I don't bother to fix them. I'm just lying in bed. I should be sleeping pretty soon but I can't sleep.
-
I really do have to gets to sleep.
Thank you for stopping by! I'm going to try to be hanging out here regularly and not just letting this place be abandoned.
But it's okay if nobody shows up I'll still be here posting my stupid posts.
Take care

I've been wanting to write about skin and hair issues and how to solve them. I just don't want to do it from a phone touch screen. Maybe I should just voice to text it all to a computer then go back and fix it. Because I forgot grammar a long time ago. And my main goal is to try and help.
Your site is efficient on my phone. I'll try to stop by more often.

5G was available in millimeter wave spectrum but it was hard to find and rarely available to most people. They just flipped the switch on the mid band 5G in the C-band. This is the new 5G that interferes with aviation electronics.

Oh okay. I was looking at my phone now and then today to see if I would pick up 5G anywhere and so far I haven't noticed
-
I am once again going to be on the lookout for a 5G signal when I'm running around today.
If I find a 5G signal, my plan is to immediately pull over and start downloading some massive porn files.

In russian accent... What could go wrong?
-
I'd suggest midget porn. Those little fuckers (literally) take up a lot of bandwidth.

The problem is with radar altimeters. Apparently the 5G band interferes with the frequency used by radar altimeters. Radar altimeters are required for certain types of instrument approaches and navigation. Most EFAS equipped aircraft require a radar altimeter to function. Another factor is that the 5G transmitters are about twice as powerful as others in use in europe. The FAA and the FCC both knew that this was going to be a problem and in normal government fashion promptly kicked the can down the road. Imagine that. Typical .gov fuckup.
-
Generally speaking the Radar Altimeters come into play on very low visibility approaches, for example a Cat IIIC ILS is a zero/zero approach. Zero decision height and zero forward visibility. The autopilot systems use the RA to flare/land the aircraft. You wouldn't want 5G to screw that up.
That said, Cat II and Cat III A/B/C approaches are not all that common. Some places...Seattle....yeah. I doubt most pilots fly even one Cat II approach in a year. Beyond that, you can usually go somewhere else (alternate) if the weather sucks that bad.
In most aircraft the RA doesn't come into play unless you are below 2500 feet above ground level. Some of the newer stuff uses RA inputs for a LOT of things other than approach though so it's going to end up as a pretty complicated issue IMO. It was stupid of the FCC to allow the two things, RA & 5G. to be so close in the spectrum. Stupid is what government does best though.

Hey Toad long time no see.

Hello, Toad!

Hi y'all.
I've kept the lines of communication open with GG all these years. Figured I'd duck in here and see who else showed up.
I used to guest cruise FW to steal memes from Razer. Dropped in there a bit ago; what a shit show, eh? Lord of the Flies.
It had a good run. HiTech didn't think it would last six months when Nuke/GG first opened it up and we all fled NK.
-
Well I hope you stick around!
The way I envision this place is that basically it will be private and pretty much friends of mine. There might be new people that could join but the vibe is going to be friendly over here.
-
Stick around, your input on events are always welcome.

It's all OK by me but just a heads up. I am older now and no longer able to suffer fools gladly. There are a few at FW that if they show up spamming this place....POOF!
