Russia begins invasion of Ukraine - what now?

it's a reporter. not a soldier. and how does that mean that's proof Chinese are with the Russians. haven't they been supporting Russia for weeks or months? been all over the news. it doesn't mean they're sending troops, Russia doesn't trust the Chinese either and wouldn't allow Chinese troops. they're partners for economic reasons.

    I play attention.

    Really? LOL

What other countries is Russia allowing to embed reporters with Russian troops.

In other news, China is weighing coming to the rescue by buying up stakes in Russian energy companies

China considers buying stakes in Russian energy, commodity firms

China is considering buying or increasing stakes in Russian energy and commodities companies, such as gas giant Gazprom PJSC and aluminum producer United Co. Rusal International PJSC, according to people familiar with the matter.

Meanwhile, China Foreign Minister Wang Yi said earlier this week that China-Russia ties remain “rock solid,” even as Beijing expressed concern about civilian casualties and called for peace talks to end the war. Among China’s current energy investments in Russia, CNPC has a 20 per cent stake in the Yamal LNG project and a 10 per cent state in Arctic LNG 2, while Cnooc Ltd. also owns 10 per cent of Arctic.

  • it's a great business opportunity for china. some banks got kicked out of the banking system. european companies are pulling out of russian. it's a fire sale. from a business standpoint. china knows that and russia has no other options.

china is now basically buying russian assets at a discount. great move by china, not that I really support china. but it's great pr, hey let's send a reported "embeded" in the rear with the gear. and make some videos because we know that allows us to buy russian assets by pretending we care about them.

yeah, it's like us getting a loan and the bank manager saying you are the most important part of our business. banks dont give a crap about you but if they can make money off you, awesome, otherwise you are nothing to them. china is being that bank manager.

  • Go China!

fuck china and russian and north korea, and all the other countries in the world. my loyalty is to the united states. only country I am afraid of is switzerland, neatness scares the shit out of me. ever been there? that is some scary shit.

I dont admire china, just pointing out about so called proof. china is been supporting russia from the beginning but they dont trust each other. if a reporter is your proof then you havent been paying attention for the last few months.

So, shit is pretty bad for Russia in Ukraine. Did you hear that Ukraine destroyed the ship that attacked Snake Island? The Ukrainians shouted "Russian ship, go fuck yourself after hitting it with either rockets or missiles.

It's reported that another General had been killed. And that the cell phone call regarding it to a commander was intercepted and broadcast. Apparantly, Russian encrypted comms are down and they are complaining that the Ukrainians can hear all of their communications and orders

Russian Officer Complains About Dead General and Comms Meltdown in Intercepted Call

The Ukrainian defense ministry has released audio from a call that it claims captured two Russian officers lamenting the death of a top general and the collapse of its secure communications network in Ukraine.

In the call—which has been verified by Bellingcat, the fact-checking group known for exposing Kremlin misinformation—two purported Russian FSB officers are heard discussing the death of a general killed in fighting near Kharkiv, which has been hammered by shelling this month.

Ukraine’s defense ministry named the general as Vitaly Gerasimov, chief of staff of the 41st Army, and Bellingcat reported that it had confirmed the death with Russian sources. In its statement, Ukraine’s defense intelligence agency said Gerasimov had been “liquidated” alongside “a number of senior Russian army officers” in fighting near Kharkiv.

If Gerasimov’s death is confirmed, he would be the second Russian general to be killed in Ukraine within a week following the death of the 41st Army’s deputy commander, Andrei Sukhovetsky. A pro-Putin Chechnyan general, Magomed Tushayev, was also reported to have been killed.

Russia’s failure to protect its top-ranking officers backs up reports from Ukraine that the Kremlin’s invasion force is in disarray. On the call released by the Ukrainian defense ministry, one FSB officer can be heard complaining that its encrypted comms system had been destroyed, allowing Ukrainian forces to listen in on Russian military orders.

Bellingcat’s executive director, Christo Grozev, wrote, “In the phone call in which the FSB officer assigned to the 41st Army reports the death to his boss in Tula, he says they’ve lost all secure communications. Thus the phone call using a local sim card. Thus the intercept.”

Grozev went on: “His boss, who makes a looong pause when he hears the news of Gerassimov’s death (before swearing), is Dmitry Shevchenko, a senior FSB officer from Tula. We identified him by searching for his phone (published by Ukrainian military Intel) in open source lookup apps... In the call, you hear the Ukraine-based FSB officer ask his boss if he can talk via the secure Era system. The boss says Era is not working.”

Grozen reported that Russia’s crypto phones may no longer work in Kharkiv because Russian forces had destroyed surrounding cell phone towers, and Russia’s encrypted comms system operates using 3G or 4G.

The statement released by Ukraine’s military intelligence agency alluded to severe communications problems among Russian forces, saying, “The data obtained also indicate significant problems with communication in the occupier’s army and with the evacuation of their broken units.”

Russia has not commented on reports of Gerasimov’s death.

  • What other countries does Russia allow to embed with Russian troops?

If you can't see this for what it is - which is for pro-Russia propaganda, then I guess you just can't see it it.

think about it gina, that's exactly what I said but in different words. china is buying russia right now and if that means making a few propaganda films to buy them china will do it. china is just about the only country supporting russia that has money and technology to help them. but if you step back then you will figure out that china is in it for the money. it's been known for weeks perhaps months. a single video is not proof of what has been known for a while. china has been saying it for a while. china does not give a crap about russia or ucraine. they care about influence and money. and they're getting it for cheap.

ucraine was supposed to be taken really fast and they're kicking ass. russia screwed up by sending conscripts with hardly any training. already 3 attempts on the president have been avoided. putin wants ucraine but his army doesnt care to fight. they dont understand why and dont really want to be there. there were russians protest in many russian citizens about the war. they passed a law to give people 15 years for spreading what the goverment says is misinformation. that tells you the average citizen doesnt want ucraine. putin has become a pariah in his own country. his billionaire friends are losing money by the hundreds. the average russian citizen are suffering because of higher prices and less income. I wont be surprised if they take putin out.

  • I agree. China is playing this for all they can.

China is just a cold and calculating pile of shit.

    yup. totally agree on that.

that's why switzerland scares the crap out of me. I was eating a piece of chocolate, dropped a tiny piece of paper. you should have seen the looks i got because I didnt pick it up right away.

I just filled up my truck today. $4.80 a gallon for diesel here in abilene tx. Shits fucking me to death.

I'm shielded from it for the most part because I get all my work mileage reimbursed at 59 cents per mile. That's wear and tear too though, but I'm coming out ahead a little.

I can't imagin what I would do if I were still driving for Uber. I'd be fucked.

  • God damn it. I thought the U.S. was pushing for this deal? Now that Poland agrees Biden just pulls his dick out? WTF

U.S. rejects Poland's offer to give it Russian-made fighter jets for Ukraine

WASHINGTON, March 8 (Reuters) - The United States rejected a surprise offer by NATO ally Poland on Tuesday to transfer its Russian-made MiG-29 fighter jets to a U.S. base in Germany as a way to replenish Ukraine's air force in its defense against invading Russian forces.
